Okay, So This Distracted Me a Little…

“Brrr!”
Taken November 8, 2007 with Canon PowerShot A550
I’m not sure why “Global Warming” Issues bring out the “Impending Ice-Age” Issues with me, but they did today. Maybe it was because it snowed again today – not enough to stay on the ground, but it was some cold, regardless. I was glad for my “hoodie-thing”.
Maybe it’s just that The Green Lady has never really left me… Bitch.
Anyway… I surfed the news on my lunch break and came across these distractions. I found it hard to concentrate this afternoon for thinking of that last one.
A new interactive online database unveiled Wednesday provides maps, color-coded categories and detailed information about who is putting 10 billion tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere annually from power plants around the world —
And even more interesting….
(PopSci.com) — Last winter, inventor John Kanzius was already attempting one seemingly impossible feat — building a machine to cure cancer with radio waves — when his device inadvertently succeeded in another: He made saltwater catch fire
I mean, it’s from “accidental” stuff like this that incredibly cool Eurekas! are made. I hope I live long enough to find out where this one will be applied.

Curing cancer? That’s child’s play. Now, lighting water on fire is impressive indeed.
Les Says: I thought you might be impressed with that, considering your family’s penchant for pyromania…

I can’t comment on the “Eureka’s” because the snow distracted me…
Les Says:
Oh, that’s right – YOU DON’T GET THAT STUFF. Get the guest room ready, Denise; we haven’t even got “snow” snow, yet, and already I’m sick of it…

You know, I always thought there was a market out there for a reverse microwave. You know, you want your water super cold, throw it in the reverse microwave. The mac n cheese is too hot for the toddler, cool it down, but not too much, in the RVM.
I know, it’s a little sketchy as I don’t have the details hammered out. But maybe one of these inventors will stumble upon my idea.
Les Says: Hmmmmm….. something tells me that if *I* managed to ‘invent’ your RVM, it would most certainly be construed as an ‘accident’. Of catastrophic proportions, too.
(I just used the freezer for the “too hot for the kid” stuff… does that count as an RVM?)

Wow! I’m starting to look for a new camera. Do you like yours????
Les Says: Very much so. Her name is Hilary Federwhore, heavy on the ‘whore’. Her back story is here, and her specs are here.
Of course, I paid the ‘original’ price for her – Snarl.

BEAU-tiful shot, Les. Great to see you’re enjoying using that camera.
Les Says: Thank you! I’m working on those sky-scapes, too. Why are clouds so BORING?!

I’m hoping that one day I’ll be blogging something stupid about Britney and I’ll inadvertently stumble upon the secret to making time travel possible.
Les Says: I’ve been working on the Time Machine for a freaking AGE. I’m probably going to end up mixing it up with the Cloning Machine, and then you’ll be able to write about Brits 1, 2, & 3. I’ll be all, “How do you like me now, Beck?” LOL!

Nothing like a mis-spent lunch hour to get your brain all whirring again.
Cheers
Les Says: …and to think I had started out being a good little worker bee and researching stuff for a fund raiser. How I ended up on CNN is beyond me.
Oh, who am I kidding?!
PS – Nice to meet you, Maddy – come back soon!

Hmm. Maybe a salt water powered engine? It’d probably give off salt myst that would eventually rendor all the land infirtile, and give us all high blood pressure.
Les Says: Hey, you know that could work! The water would eventually evaporate through the engine and there would still be some salt sediment left – in a pinch, you could fill up with water and run (slower) until you could get to a Saline Station.
You should test this on the next campin’ trip, Hairy…

Cripes! Where the heck do you live that it’s snowing so much already. The Arctic Circle?! Actually, here in Boston we are getting some snow. Flurries. ugh.
Les Says: There’s not that much snow right now – it just plays with us until late December- early January. Then it FEELS like the Arctic Circle.
Ugh, indeed.

Hi Les,
Hope all is well. Haven’t seen an update here for a while.
Do reassure us, your loyal fans …
Cheers
David
Les Says: Fear not, Les Becker fans… your hero lives to write again.
Just seem to have lost the Art of Multi-Tasking (or is that juggling?). I seem, however, to have gained the knack of thinking in broken Spanish; i.e. “Mi horario está loco.” That oughtta come in handy when I get to Minnesota, huh?
