‘Picture Show’ gets remake; Jon Heder is a zombie
Fox and MTV are teaming up for a two-hour remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show, reports Variety.
Helmed by the 1978 film’s executive producer, Lou Adler, the new version will use the original musical screenplay for The Rocky Horror Show written by Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien, and may add in some additional music.
I am SO not impressed with this. Somebody make it stop. And, for the record, Rocky Horror was released in 1975, not ‘78…

Considering I didn’t even enjoy the original, I’d gladly make it stop. “C’mon Silent Bob… We’re going to Hollywood!”
Les Says: Rocky Horror might be the only movie we don’t agree on, so I can’t very well call down your taste in movies, but… How can you NOT love that movie?! Gawd! You are obviously way too young to appreciate men in fish-net stockings.

Les — they CAN’T remake it. They can do a luke warm facsimile, but there is only one Tim Curry. One Susan Sarandon. One Meatloaf. They are ALL irreplaceable.
Les Says: Thank you! Someone with some sense!
Who could improve on Tim?!

I’m with you. That ain’t right! The stage version was sort of fun, but there can only be one movie.
Les Says: I’ve never seen the stage version - that would be kind of fun, I think - but leave my movie alone.

I can’t imagine the remake is going to be any more interesting than the first one. Why can’t people come up with *new* stuff?
Les Says: There seems to be a run on remakes again lately - especially on the Japanese horror flicks, and I don’t think they translate well at all. Godzilla aside, that is. I wish they’d leave the American classics and cult flicks alone.

Well frankly they will never remake this classic cult film, one I have made sure to dement my children with already. Seems Riff Raff may have needed some $$$ to actually agree to this.
Les Says: I, too, have twisted my child up slightly more with it - she was fairly demented to begin with, thankfully. I keep hoping this is a rumour. Someone’s got to put the kibosh on it.

My child is a true throwback retro-freak. She loves all of my old cult classics. Especially Rocky Horror. She asked for her own copy on DVD for Christmas last year..
Apple didn’t fall far from the tree in her movie tastes.
Les Says: Children of the Freaks, unite? If “they” won’t listen to us, maybe they’ll listen to the young ‘uns.
Then again, Ky would probably be all for it, if they let her play Columbia.

Oh no. Nononononono no. And I just today changed my ringtone back from Spider Pig to Time Warp. No one is shivering with anticip…
ation…..
for this one. Abort! Abort!!!
Les Says: I ALMOST put Time Warp on my phone… ’til I realized I wouldn’t recognize it as the phone ringing and would probably just stand there in the check-out line, trying not to dance…

The horror.
The H O R R O R!!!
Les Says: ROTFL!! I’ll bet you’d fight for the chance to play Frank-N-Furter, though, David….

Say it ain’t so!
Les Says: It seems destined to be so, Mushy. IMDB.com says it’s “in development” and slated for airing for TV in 2010.
I must drown my sorrows, now…

TV? Now there’s proof they know it isn’t going to be any good. The original STILL gets movie theater play!
Les Says: AND has been on TV. I don’t understand how they can mess with such a classic.
