Terrific story! Hilarious and well-told. (And well-sung!)

Les Says: Thank you, Louise. Most of Ruby's stories are hilarious, I think. All are well-told, when told to me. I hope I do them justice in the re-telling.

Welcome to Where the Walls are Soft... please come back and visit often.

Awesome to hear Ruby -- and you too! And you should drag her out on the road with you, that would be too much fun. A regular caravan!

Les Says: I thought of kidnapping her and dragging her with me - but there's a reason I was once terrified of Ruby. I do NOT want her angry with me. Ever.

Oh, how wonderful to not only put a voice to Ruby, but to hear your own one as well! Another great peice of writing Les, guess we've grown to expcet no less from you, but oh my, that last little bit of audio sure was the icing on top. I can't stop smiling. You and Ruby, what a team!

Les Says: I keep telling her we should go on the road, but she won't do it. Keeps giving me some crap about being "too old". Imagine that!

WOW! Love Ruby's voice, in real life and in your writing!

and by the way, those tomatoes ARE already edible! Fry em up girl!

Les Says: We talked about that awhile back... I don't know if Ruby's up to it, and God knows I'll just turn them directly into inedible all over again. For now, she picks off the ripe ones and we eat them while working the crossword.

Ah a sexy voice too...she's just the "bee's knees"!

Thanks for including the recording it made my day.

Love Ruby stories...tell her I said hi.

Les Says: Will do, Mushy - you know she'll get a big kick out of "sexy voice". :-D

What fun to hear Ruby's voice! I'm going to use "there's something with pants on" on one particular daughter I have.

Les Says: Isn't that priceless? I LOVE that phrase, and plan on using it, myself.

Not only is the story incredible as a life experience, it is well written as a piece of art, a look into a rich and passing way of life, and an archive of Ruby's memories. I so wish I had thought to do this with my elders before they left me.

This is -- literally -- a museum piece. Very well done.

Les Says: Wow! Thank you! I'm not sure quite how to respond to such a nice compliment, quilly. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

You know, that story *almost* makes me want to try snowshoeing.

Almost.

Les Says: Hey, we practically share the same snow, Betch! I'll have to work on "almost" turning into "eager" by January so we can go for a Snowshoe Walk-About. We'll make a whole new meaning for "Tramping around," what say?
