Terry’s Anthurium has bloomed for the first time since before he died. Kyla gave him this plant when she moved out a few years ago, and he doted on it like it was his child. I had been promising him that I would repot it for months before he got sick again, and I just never got around to it until he’d been gone for about a month.
It holds a place of honour in his old living room, where I can see it, and talk to it every day, and I hope to be able to do so for many years to come.

I’m not sure I even know where to begin…
I was asleep when the ball dropped – woke up when the kids all called for rides home at the same time. It took me three trips, and I drive a mini-van. That’s a lot of drunken 20-somethings…
That old saw about “how you ring in the New Year is an indicator of how your year will go” is flat-out bullshit, if my January has anything to say about it, by the way. I’d have thought January would be a calm and steady same-old, same-old kind of routine month.
Terry Becker waxes (not exactly poetically) about a scary womany subject. While both his wife and his ex-wife are in the room. Yeah.
I always thought she could sing. This one, though…. It’s the latest new tune in development by Kyla Becker and her father, known here as The Sire of Turkey.
It was recorded on-the-fly in the kitchen of a near-abandoned house (not mine)… please note the cat interruption (also not mine), followed by the dog interruption.
The l’il ditty is called “I Don’t Have You,” and it’s my new favourite song. What do you think?
