And the Winner is….

I just realized that I failed to announce the winner of an autographed copy of “The Waitress, the Whiskey & the Handcuffs”, recently published in paperback.

I feel pretty foolish…

The winner was Bri Calkins who entered through Facebook – and I announced it on both Facebook and Twitter… but not here.

I’m so sorry folks – Bri’s book is on the way to her, and I hope she enjoys reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Here’s the Free Excerpt of “The Waitress”…

The Waitress, the Whiskey & the Handcuffs

The Waitress, the Whiskey & the Handcuffs

I didn’t like the free excerpt of “The Waitress” that’s available for download at Smashwords, and here’s why…

At this time, the system is automatic, and only allows for a certain amount of the book to be available from the beginning of the story only ( in other words, I don’t get to choose where the excerpt begins) – which means that much of what the reader gets to actually read is front matter: copyright notices and legal mumbo-jumbo. To date, there have been 74 downloads of that excerpt, which doesn’t reflect in any actual sales at all. No wonder! There’s no time for the reader to get a feel for the characters before it’s all over.

I want to tease you into buying this thing! That’s hard to do when you don’t really get to meet my “people”.
Goodreads lets me do things my way. Download this excerpt for free (or read it right online if you’d rather). Hopefully, Ruby, and Judd Gulley, and The Little Drunk will intrigue you enough to drop less than a dollar to read a really funny story.

And pssst! It would really help if you share this post. 😉

I Have An Interview!!

I Have An Interview!!

Here’s yesterday’s interview about The Waitress. It was SO much fun!

I’ll be posting in a day or two about what a freaky-deaky set of mishaps I had leading up to it… nearly didn’t manage it at all.

Meantime, if you haven’t already, PLEASE pick up a copy of the book. This “Starving Artist” phase ain’t nearly as romantic as the media makes it out to be…
